Every consignor who hauls a finished horse to Wickenburg, every family who's put a decade into this sale — none of it means anything without a buyer in the seats ready to raise a number. You keep this going. Here's what to know before sale day.

Step One

Get your buyer number.

  • Register in person at the sale office in Wickenburg, or online in advance through CCI.live if you're bidding remotely.
  • Bidding online requires a validated buyer number and a $1,000 credit card hold — watching the broadcast does not.

Payment

Simple terms, settled sale day.

  • Cash, cashier's check, traveler's check, or personal bank check — U.S. currency on U.S. banks only, made out to “Rancho Rio Horse Sale.”
  • Bank drafts and postdated checks aren't accepted.
  • Payment in full is due to the cashier during or immediately after the sale.

In the Ring

What to expect sale day.

  • Every horse in the catalog passes through the ring, and every dollar passes through the office — no side deals.
  • The auctioneer's announcements take precedence over the printed catalog, so listen close.
  • The horse becomes your responsibility the instant it's knocked down to you. Take a good look beforehand — sellers stand behind soundness and title, but sales are otherwise final once the hammer drops.
