Nomination Window

Nominations Open September 15, 2026
Nominations Close October 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM MST (Arizona time)

No exceptions. Selections will be made no later than November 15, 2026, and selected horses/consignors will be notified via email. Completion of a consignment form does not guarantee selection — sale staff reserves the right to reject any consignment that does not meet sale standards.

Basic Guidelines

Read carefully before nominating.

  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Poor- or low-quality images and videos will not be accepted.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Fees

What it costs to consign.

  • Nomination fee: $1,500 per head, due at time of entry.
  • Commission: 9% of the sale price.
  • Passout fee: $500 for any horse passed out (not sold) through the ring.

Optional

Catalog ad.

  • The full-page catalog ad is optional.
  • $500 for a full-page ad, designed in-house.
  • Refunded with your nomination fee if the horse isn't selected; non-refundable after December 1.

Additional Requirements

Ownership & horse standards.

Ownership

  • Horse papers must be in the consignor's name by sale day — no exceptions. No double transfers; original papers plus a signed transfer are due at check-in.
  • Selling as an agent must be approved by sale staff at the time of nomination.

Horse Requirements

  • No grade horses accepted. No mares or stallions unless approved by sale staff prior to nomination.
  • Current (within 6 months) Coggins and health certificate to unload on-site required.
  • All horses must pass a standard vet exam at check-in and are guaranteed for 72 hours from the end of the sale (seller responsible for guarantees). See the full horse warranty terms.

Radiographs

  • Required for every horse. Submit via email to horsesales@ranchorioaz.com, or have your vet grant portal access to horsesales@ranchorioaz.com.
  • Must be taken within 90 days of the sale and submitted by March 1, 2027. Radiographs taken prior to January 1, 2027 will not be accepted unless approved by management.

Media

Video & photo requirements.

Video Requirements

  • Vimeo or YouTube only — no raw video files. One video link may be included in the nomination form; it's optional except for first-time consignors, who are required to include one for review.
  • Additional video deadlines will be outlined for consignors upon selection.

Photo Requirements

  • Professional, high-resolution photos required at nomination (1–5 MB per image). Low-quality images will not be considered.
  • No foreign objects in the background. Horse should be well-groomed with no tail bag; if saddled, tack should be clean.
